Unmanned Systems Battalion “Kondor” 1st Presidential Operational Brigade “Bureviy”

About unit

The ‘Condor’ Unmanned Systems Battalion began its combat operations in January 2022 as a volunteer unit.

From the very first days of the full-scale invasion, the fighters defended the Kyiv region, evacuated civilians and carried out counter-sabotage operations, and later officially joined the ‘Bureviy’ Brigade as an aerial reconnaissance company.

Having fought the fiercest battles in Bakhmut, Bilohorivka, the Serebryansky Forest and the Kupiansk direction, the unit, thanks to its high effectiveness and volunteer support, expanded into a full-fledged battalion, which today is inflicting heavy losses on the enemy using strike drones and reconnaissance.

The battalion now has a comprehensive and self-sufficient structure designed to ensure autonomous operations. The unit comprises:

  • strike aviation system companies — crews operating multi-rotor drones, reconnaissance wings and FPV drones;
  • an engineering service and workshop — a technical unit responsible for drone repairs, communications setup and system modifications, located in close proximity to the front line;
  • an ammunition preparation workshop — specialists responsible for the manufacture, testing and adaptation of munitions for drop systems and FPV drones;
  • a logistics and support unit, responsible for the supply of equipment, evacuation vehicles (including specially equipped off-road vehicles) and the provision of combatants’ life support;
  • an in-house training centre (instructors) providing extensive and thorough training for recruits (ranging from basic survival skills to specialised training in operating specific types of drones).
