Twelve years ago, very different people came together within the National Guard of Ukraine, but its development was largely shaped by volunteer units that formed a motivated, values-driven core of its personnel.
Among the volunteer battalions that joined the National Guard at that time, Azov was the only unit that went on to grow into a corps, became an integral part of the NGU, and rallied other units around itself, which today demonstrate strong results in holding off the enemy.




On National Guard of Ukraine Day, fighters of the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine received state and departmental awards, distinctions from the Pokrovsk City Military Administration, and valuable gifts from the Corps Commander, Brigadier General Denys “Redis” Prokopenko. Eight service members were awarded the highest distinction of the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine — the corps chevron.
