Medical Service 20th Operational Brigade “Lubart”
About unit
The medical unit of the 20th “Lubart” Brigade began to take shape alongside the brigade’s formation in April 2025. By October 18 of that same year, the brigade—as part of a battalion tactical group—had reached the front lines, and the medical unit joined it on combat duty.
The operation is structured as a comprehensive chain of care for the wounded: from evacuation from the site of injury to stabilization points of adjacent corps brigades, field surgical hospitals, specialized hospitals, and rehabilitation centers in rear-area cities. At every stage, the wounded are accompanied by a monitoring and escort team to ensure that no soldier is left unattended by the service until they return to active duty.
Within the joint medical space with the medical service of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov,” a hospital ward has been operating since January 2026, and a dental office with two treatment stations has been in operation since April 2026.
The next stage of development is the creation of our own mobile surgical teams. Professional surgical teams will ensure autonomy at the Role 1 stage and provide qualified care directly within the brigade’s area of responsibility.
A separate area of focus is the systematic training of personnel in tactical medicine skills, informing service members about the risks of illness in combat conditions, and monitoring vaccination status. The goal is for every soldier to be prepared to assist themselves and their comrades even before a medic arrives, and for preventive measures to be proactive.
Modern systems for tracking and managing the wounded and sick are also being gradually implemented, which improve the speed and accuracy of decision-making at all levels of the service.
In its work, the service is guided exclusively by the principles of evidence-based medicine. All clinical decisions are based on current protocols and verified data, rather than outdated practices or the personal experience of individual specialists.
The service’s primary goal is the rapid and effective treatment of wounded and sick service members to ensure their swiftest possible return to duty at all stages and in all locations where the brigade’s personnel are carrying out their missions.
