On March 7, 2025, Azov advanced to a new level of combat operations. The command of the Defense Forces of Ukraine decided to establish the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine based on the many years of experience and professionalism of the fighters and commanders of the 12th Special Forces Brigade Azov.
Already in the summer of 2025, the newly formed Corps assumed responsibility for the sector on the Dobropillia axis amid a breakthrough by enemy forces deep into the combat formations of the Defense Forces. Through effective command and coordination between units, the enemy was halted and pushed back, liberating Ukrainian land and settlements on the axis.
Today, the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine continues to hold the defense in its sector of responsibility. The forces of the brigades and attached units, under the command of experienced commanders, effectively repel enemy attacks and destroy the offensive potential of the occupiers.
This is the story of the Ukrainian military being written by Azov here and now — the formation of a modern, well-prepared military structure at the operational-tactical level, capable of holding the front and contributing to the development of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
