The 20th Operational Brigade “Lubart” marks its first anniversary

Exactly one year ago, on April 15, 2025, the 20th Operational Brigade Lubart was established within the First Corps Azov of the National Guard of Ukraine. It has been a year of formation and growth under exceptionally demanding conditions. While carrying out combat missions on some of the most difficult sectors of the front, the brigade simultaneously built its structure and developed into an effective military force. Both objectives were achieved with distinction, and today the 20th Brigade Lubart stands as a reliable component of the First Corps Azov.

Despite the challenges of an intense year of war, Lubart has progressed from the establishment of its brigade headquarters to a fully formed structure comprising operational battalions and specialized units. A comprehensive support system has been put in place, and the brigade has established its own school for robotic systems. The unit has also launched a dedicated support service for active personnel, veterans, and the families of its service members.

The 20th Brigade Lubart is recognized both in Ukraine and internationally and maintains systematic cooperation with international partners in armaments and the exchange of experience. A cadet outreach service has been established, working with universities, youth communities, civil society organizations, and cultural institutions to help shape a conscious and engaged society. At the same time, the brigade’s primary mission remains unchanged: combat operations as part of the First Corps Azov on the most challenging sectors of the front.

The brigade’s personnel—soldiers, NCOs, and officers—exemplify professionalism and resilience. Over the past year, its fighters have been repeatedly awarded high state honors, and on October 1, 2025, the Lubart Brigade received its battle flag from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Its service members continue the legacy of their fallen brothers-in-arms and uphold their example of courage.

The 20th Operational Brigade Lubart has already written its name into the history of Ukraine. Combat operations continue, and with them, the brigade’s growth. The second year of this story begins, one we will write together.

Glory to Ukraine!
