History

The First Battles

March 2022

In the initial phase of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the ‘Forpost’ battalion, as a rapid reaction battalion equipped with armoured personnel carriers, was one of the first to engage the enemy in combat. In mid-March 2022, the unit took part in the defence of the village of Moschun, which was strategically important for the defence of Kyiv.

Serebryansky Forestry District

September 2023 – July 2024

From September to December 2023, and again from February to July 2024, the ‘Forpost’ battalion, as part of the 1st Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine ‘Bureviy’, carried out combat missions in the Serebryansky Forestry District of Luhansk Oblast. The battalion’s personnel successfully carried out both defensive and offensive operations, distinguishing themselves by advancing up to 2 kilometres along the front line.

Defense of Stelmakhivka

2024

Following its rotation in the Serebryansky Forestry, the ‘Forpost’ battalion was deployed to the village of Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region due to a critical situation on the front line. The battalion held its defensive positions for 2.5 months, after which it was withdrawn to its permanent base to restore its combat readiness. Thanks to its coordinated efforts, ‘Forpost’ managed to halt the enemy’s advance on a critically important sector, thereby preventing the enemy from encircling the group of troops positioned in the defence zone of the city of Kupiansk.

The Battles for Terny

First half of 2024

A company from the ‘Forpost’ battalion, forming part of a company group within the 12th Special Forces Brigade ‘Azov’, took part in the fighting for the village of Terny in the Donetsk region during the first half of 2024.

Kupyansk Sector

June 2025

Following its re-establishment, the “Forpost” battalion has been carrying out operations in the Kupiansk sector since June 2025. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of its units, the battalion is holding positions on the left bank of the Oskil River, repelling enemy advances and fending off assaults. Under constant pressure from Russian forces and with limited supplies and logistics, the battalion has prevented a breakthrough and helped stabilise the situation on a specific section of the front line in the Kupiansk sector.
