Following the completion of the formation and combat coordination phase, on 24 June 2024 the battalion set out to carry out combat missions in the area around the village of Stelmakhivka in the Kharkiv region, where the unit’s servicemen carried out tasks to defend designated lines, contain the enemy and stabilise the situation on a specific section of the front. In difficult combat conditions, the personnel demonstrated resilience, professionalism, unity and loyalty to their military oath.
2nd Operational Battalion “Bastion” 1st Presidential Operational Brigade “Bureviy”
About unit
The 2nd Rapid Deployment Battalion ‘Bastion’ was formed in the spring of 2024. From the very outset, the unit was established as a combat force tasked with carrying out complex and critical missions to defend the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The battalion’s personnel comprise courageous, resilient and dedicated servicemen who stood up to defend their homeland during the country’s most difficult period.

History
In July 2024, the battalion was deployed to carry out combat missions in the area of the Serebryanske Forestry, and by August 2024, it had been redeployed to the Kupiansk direction and began carrying out combat missions in the area of the village of Pishchane. It was on this section of the front that the unit’s personnel demonstrated unbreakable spirit, endurance and courage, holding back the enemy’s advance, maintaining their defensive positions and preventing the enemy from breaking through.
Since 26 December 2025, the battalion has continued its combat operations on one of the most challenging sectors of the front – the Dobropillia sector.
Commander
Vladislav "Lyonya" Linitsky
Lieutenant ColonelIn 2012, he enrolled at the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine, and began his service in 2016. He rose through the ranks from platoon commander to company commander. He carried out combat missions in the Donbas during the ATO/JFO and defended the Kyiv region in 2022. In January 2024, he began service in the ‘Bureviy’ Brigade as deputy battalion commander. He carried out combat missions in the Stelmakhivka and Serebryanske Forestry areas of Luhansk Oblast, and in the Pishchane area of Kharkiv Oblast. Since September 2025, he has been commander of the ‘Bastion’ Battalion.
He was awarded the ‘For Valiant Service’ and ‘For the Defence of Ukraine’ decorations, a firearm from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, and the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, 3rd class.
