During this period, the formation of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Battalion began. The unit was built around service members from the Unmanned Systems Battalion and the Reconnaissance Wing of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov,” who had participated in numerous successful campaigns on the most challenging sections of the front. It was precisely their combat experience, professional training, strong ideological convictions, and high level of teamwork that laid the foundation for the new unit and set the standards for its future development.

The “Hasta” Special-Purpose Unmanned Systems Battalion is a multifunctional unit that is part of the “Pilum” Unmanned Systems Regiment.
The battalion’s primary mission is to detect, engage, and destroy enemy personnel and equipment. Significant emphasis is placed on conducting combat operations behind enemy lines, where strike unmanned systems precisely strike designated targets and disrupt the enemy’s logistical support systems. The unit is also actively engaged in aerial reconnaissance, conducting continuous surveillance of the combat zone and the enemy’s rear areas, detecting the movement of enemy forces, and providing fire correction for artillery and other weapons.
In its operations, the unit also makes extensive use of ground-based robotic systems to carry out combat and logistical tasks, thereby enhancing the corps’ technological capabilities. The unit’s establishment was part of the transition to a modern model of warfare, in which unmanned systems are integrated into all key areas of operation: from reconnaissance and fire support to logistical support for corps units.

In the next phase, the battalion was reinforced with fighters from the tank battalion of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” and other servicemen from the National Guard of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This made it possible to significantly expand combat capabilities with many types of modern equipment and to establish an effective system for carrying out missions using unmanned and robotic systems.
Today, the battalion is an integral and strike force of the 41st “Pilum” Unmanned Systems Regiment.
