Service Support Battalion 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov”

About unit

In modern warfare, the success of combat operations is determined not only on the front lines but also in the rear. While assault and reconnaissance units carry out combat missions, the support battalion ensures the seamless operation of the entire brigade. It is responsible for supply, repair, security, and logistics, transforming the unit’s combat power into a single, well-coordinated mechanism.

The battalion’s main feature is its ability to act quickly, covertly, and flexibly in modern warfare. Its specialists deploy field supply, refueling, and equipment repair stations on short notice, often under the threat of enemy fire. The unit also ensures the operation of the brigade’s warehouses, being responsible for inventory, storage, and the prompt distribution of supplies.

The backbone of the battalion’s structure consists of four logistics companies. They ensure the timely delivery of equipment, weapons, ammunition, fuel, and food. In addition, the companies perform engineering work, repair power lines, maintain plumbing, and carry out carpentry work to set up positions, dugouts, and deployment sites.

The security company plays a particularly important role, providing round-the-clock security for military towns and warehouses, countering sabotage threats, and maintaining facility security without involving combat units. One of the company’s platoons also performs tasks as part of a mobile fire group, providing cover against air threats.

The battalion’s structure includes a maintenance platoon, which repairs and restores vehicles, armored vehicles, and specialized equipment directly in the field. Another important element is the unmanned systems and ground robotic systems platoon. Heavy drones deliver ammunition, water, medical supplies, and food to remote positions, while ground robotic systems transport cargo and engineering materials to areas where personnel movement is too dangerous.

The support battalion serves as the brigade’s technological and reliable rear. Its work allows combat units to focus exclusively on carrying out combat missions and defeating the enemy.
