Responsibilities
- organizing the preparation of the howitzer for firing — from selecting a firing position to loading the gun;
- determining the type of ammunition, charge size, and barrel elevation angle for accurate target engagement;
- verifying the accuracy of calculations made by the gunner, adjusting fire based on observation data;
- coordinating actions with forward artillery observers (FAO) and headquarters to receive target data;
- monitoring the technical condition of the gun, ammunition availability, and adherence to safety protocols by the crew personnel;
- processing reporting documentation — accounting for expended shells, reports on the completion of assigned tasks.
